As the final days of 2025 quietly slip away, I find myself reflecting from a vibrant Busan on a year marked by profound transformation. For South Korea, 2025 was the year in which the so-called K-Factor fully merged with strategic necessity.
As the newly appointed representative of the Dutch Business Council Korea (DBCK) for Busan and South Korea, and through my own company, Kramer & Co Consulting—often referred to simply as KramerConsult—I have experienced these shifts not from a distance, but from close proximity.
2025: A Year of Strategic Reorientation
Despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainty and regional volatility, the Korean economy demonstrated notable resilience throughout 2025. Rather than slowing down, South Korea continued to strengthen its position as a safe and reliable hub for high-value technology, innovation, and advanced manufacturing.
What stood out this year was Korea’s ability to combine long-term policy consistency with pragmatic flexibility. This allowed the country to respond effectively to external pressures while continuing to invest in future-oriented sectors.
Higher Education and Internationalisation
One of the most visible shifts in 2025 occurred in the field of higher education. Faced with demographic challenges and an increasing need for international talent, Korea accelerated its internationalisation efforts. Visa regulations were eased, and the number of English-taught programmes expanded further.
The launch of studeren-in-korea.nl proved to be exceptionally timely, as interest among Dutch students in a Korean academic experience has grown significantly.
Just this month, we also reached an agreement with Changwon National University, appointing KramerConsult as their dedicated representative for the Netherlands and Belgium, with a broader focus on Western Europe.
Opportunities for Entrepreneurs and Investors
For entrepreneurs and investors, 2025 brought renewed attention to the Busan region and southern Korea. Developments around digital-twin cities, smart logistics, and sustainable energy gained momentum.
At the same time, geopolitical tensions have accelerated the restructuring of global supply chains. In this environment, South Korea continues to emerge as a trusted and stable partner for Western companies.
Through our business consulting services

we support companies and individuals at various stages of their Korea journey—from early orientation and soft-landing support to strategic advice, partner matching, and local representation.
We actively encourage entrepreneurs and investors to reach out, even if plans are still at an early stage or not yet fully crystallised. Questions and ideas are often the best starting point.
Highlights and Milestones
On both a personal and professional level, 2025 marked several important milestones. The formal establishment of Kramer & Co Consulting enabled us to further professionalise our support for businesses, institutions, and individuals navigating the Korean market.
Toward the end of the year, we also agreed that KramerConsult will act as the dedicated agent for Eerde International Boarding School in Korea. Marketing efforts and concrete next steps will be discussed at the beginning of January 2026.
Looking Ahead to 2026: Opportunities in a Volatile World
While global markets remain volatile, there is room for cautious optimism as we move into 2026. South Korea is increasingly positioning itself not only as an export-driven economy, but as a global hub for talent, capital, and innovation.
Key areas to watch include the further integration of AI in the public sector and continued growth in the EdTech sector.
